It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Xmas Lights Header

Last night AJ (my boyfriend) and I decided we’d go and see the switch on of the Oxford Street Christmas lights. We did a little shopping before hand and then wandered down to John Lewis for 5 o’clock when the event was about to take place! We severely underestimated how busy it would be, I didn’t realise it would be such a big event with such a massive crowd! We tried to get closer to the stage but we ended up getting crushed in a massive crowd! We decided we’d walk back to some more open space! By the time we’d found open space we couldn’t even hear the performers anymore, Rixton opened the show and then Neon Jungle and Jess Glyne performed, not that we saw or heard any of it!

We decided we’d have a look around John Lewis until it was time for the lights to be turned on! I always forget what a lovely experience John Lewis is, I love it in there! Especially now all the Christmas bits are out! I’m so excited! Christmas is my favourite time of the year!

We went outside at 6 and did the countdown with Cheryl, and then the lights came on and they looked absolutely stunning, the whole length of Oxford Street both ways was covered in beautiful lit up balls (the same as last year because they were so popular). Even though we didn’t get to see/hear any performances it was well worth going as I’m now feeling very festive!

Did any of you go to the turn on? Are you feeling in the Christmas spirit yet?

Home is where the Heart is

Room Header

A year has passed since I first moved here and I couldn’t love my room more! When you move away from home for the first time it’s always a daunting experience and it really helps to make your bedroom really homely, this is definitely true when you flat share. Your room is the place where you can escape from everything and just shut yourself away and relax. So if your room looks pretty, it makes it even better! I thought I’d share some pictures of my room with you all.

Room 7

I got all my bedding from Primark recently and it’s such good value for money – the quality is really nice and that fur throw is to die for, honestly the softest and snuggliest thing I have ever owned. I can never wait to just snuggle up in bed under it.

Room 2

This is our little work station. I love our peace lilly – we had one last year but it died when we went away for the summer so we brought a new one! It adds some colour to the room and makes it more homely.

As you can see our beloved Yankee Candle has nearly run out, this is a sad moment for us as we have had it the whole time we have been living here. The scent is ‘Bahama Breeze’ and it is absolutely beautiful, honestly the nicest smell ever! We are definitely going to have to buy another and they’re such good value because they last for so long.

We’ve also got a massive map of London on the wall, it was my dad’s idea and I think it’s so cool! We always look at it and decide which new places we want to go and explore. It also puts some colour in the room which is always good when your walls are painted white.

Room 4

We keep our clothes on a rail at the end of our bed – at first I hated the idea of having my clothes out and being able to see them all the time but it has actually come in really handy! It’s so easy to pick an outfit and they also add colour to the room, I’ve got them all colour co-ordinated so they look pretty too.

Room 8

These mugs are on our bedside table, we do drink out of them but we also like to use them as ornaments! My boyfriends name is ‘AJ’ so I think it’s a nice touch. He got them as a Christmas present last year and I think they’re so cute. I wish my name was only two letters long so I could have a matching set too.

This is our flatmate, Dolly! She is honestly the cutest little thing and we love her!

Autumn Favourites

Header 1

I love Autumn, especially days like today when the sky is blue but the air is cold!

I always get excited to get out my coats and put on my boots and enjoy a crisp autumn day. Apart from the sun setting earlier, I really do love this season. Being all cosy and snuggled with warm drinks and a fire roaring is something I long for all year round.

I thought, I’d share with you some of my favourite things from this past month!

First of all, I purchased this beautiful gilet last week from H&M and I am obsessed with it, it was such a bargain, found it in the sale for £10, yes £10 and just knew I had to get it! I’ve practically lived in it this passed week! I’ve worn it with nearly every outfit and it looks gorgeous! I’ve had so many comments on it, even from strangers on the bus and tube, which is really lovely! I think a fur gilet is perfect for Autumn, it’s still not cold enough to wear a big coat but this keeps you warm and snuggly. I’ll do another blog post where you can see it worn as part of an outfit, so look out for that!

Next, I’ve got my Chelsea boots out from the back of my cupboard, given them a polish and they’re good to go! I got them last year from Zara and wore them all Autumn and Winter long, so i’ve been excited putting them back on again! They really are a wardrobe staple and so timeless, if you buy a good quality pair they’ll last you a lifetime, they will never go out of fashion.

brownbootsAnother item of clothing which I really love in the Autumn is a roll neck top or jumper! At the moment it’s still not cold enough for a roll neck jumper so this roll neck top has come in really handy! I think they look so effortlessly chic and they are also a wardrobe staple, something that comes back into fashion at this time of year without fail! They’re also brilliant for this time of year because they keep your neck warm without needing a scarf! I particularly like this one as the neck isn’t too tight, sometimes they choke me a little bit, but this one is perfect and really soft too! I’m definitely going to have to go and get some more in different colours.

My last fashion favourite is this pair of heeled chelsea boots! I got these for Christmas last year and I love them! I haven’t worn them for a while because the weather’s been too warm for boots but I got so excited when I realised it was October and time to bring out the boots again! I love the sole on these, I think they’re really different to other heeled boots out there. They’re real leather so really comfy! I love wearing these with jeans and a tee! I feel like they instantly dress up a casual look!

My favourite nail colour this season has got to be a rich and dark berry colour! I think it’s so beautiful for this time of year! I love this shade by Essie called ‘Berry Naughty’, it’s perfect! I really want to try out a berry lip too, I’m looking around for the perfect shade so I will keep you updated!

This is a bit of a random favourite but this Chai Latte powder is amazing! It makes the most beautiful Chai drink, just like the ones you find in Costa and Nero’s. But the great thing is you can drink it at home! This time of the year always makes me crave a Chai Latte, the spiced milk is just to die for and it’s definitely my go to drink throughout the colder months!

Finally, you can’t have an Autumn favourites without a pumpkin! My boyfriend carved this at the weekend and it’s amazing! He used an Asda carving kit, which came with tools and stencils and it really is the best one he’s ever made! We’ve got it in our bedroom and it looks so pretty glowing at night!
